6 Things to do on a Rainy Day in Newport Beach

It may not be too common but sometimes it does rain in Newport Beach. For whatever reason you decide you aren’t going to the beach, here are some popular things you can do in case it’s too cold or wet outside:

Lyon Air Museum – For any aviation fan, this museum is a great place to go to see authentic historical aircraft and related memorabilia. World War II exhibits are featured with some of the rarest operational aircraft vehicles in the world. Group tours are available and even facility rentals for the 30,000 square foot hangar. Lyon Air Museum is open each day from 10am-4pm.

Orange County Museum of Art – The OCMA is one of the country’s top museums with nearly 2,500 pieces of modern and contemporary art. Over 40,000 people visit the museum each year to enjoy the exhibits as well as art activities, special tours, and fun performances. The OCMA is open Wednesday through Sunday with free admission on Fridays!

Movies – Island Cinema is located at Fashion Island and boasts specialty menu items, seat-side service, and comfortable leather seats. Choose your seats ahead of time when you purchase your tickets and enjoy the movie with an Artisan Cheese Plate, Grilled Chicken Panini, or Cheesecake (among many tasty options). Newport’s Lido Theatre is a single-screen theatre but a historic landmark in the area, serving the community for over 75 years. Go back in time and enjoy your modern movie while sitting on a balcony waiting for the red velvet curtains to rise.

OC Brewery Tours – Spend the day sampling a variety of award-winning beers of Orange County. Take a tour and enjoy a flight at each stop while enjoying snacks or a meal from participating food trucks. Choose from a selection of craft beers and take home glasses or growlers.

Spas - You don’t need to tell us twice to take a spa day! The spa and salon options in Newport Beach are seemingly endless and do not disappoint. Get an oxygen facial at the Facial Lounge, a deep tissue massage at Royal Thai Massage & Day Spa, or enjoy a float session at Newport Float Therapy. Take that YOU time you deserve!

Bay Arcade – This fun arcade has been open since the 1950’s and has all your favorite classic games like ski ball, racing games, and basketball. Turn in tickets for prizes or save them for another day.

These are some of the things we know visitors and residents alike love to do. When the day clears up and it’s warm outside, go enjoy the beach!
