Things to do in Newport Beach

Many come to the Newport Beach area to soak up the sun and splash in the waves. But when you’re all beached out or perhaps a little sunburnt, what are some other options for fun in the area? We put together a few suggestions for you and your family to enjoy.

For a day of shopping, try Fashion Island and you’re sure to find just what you’re looking for. The open-air shopping mall attracts nearly 16 million visitors per year with its many stores, restaurants, and ocean views. Among the selection of shopping are Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Bloomingdale’s, American Tea Room, and Urban Decay. Restaurants include Sushi Roku, Fig & Olive, Burger Bar, and True Food Kitchen.

If you’re seeking adventure, go to Balboa Fun Zone. A ferris wheel will take you up over Newport Harbor and the Pacific Ocean or you can enjoy the Bay Arcade and play your heart out. There’s also tons of water activities including boat rentals or jet skis, parasailing, paddleboards, and whale watching. You can have your pick from all your favorite foods like pizza, Italian ice, corn dogs, or Balboa Candy.

The Sherman Library & Gardens is a 2 acre horticultural retreat in Corona del Mar. This is the perfect place to relax and smell the roses, literally. The gardens range from plant life of the desert regions to exotic vegetation of tropical climates. The beautiful plants are displayed among fountains and sculptures as well as a koi pond with over a dozen fish. The research library boasts over 25,000 books and other printed items with many material pertaining to the history of the Pacific Southwest.

You can always do all of the above and finish up the day all cozy in your Newport Beach vacation rental. Get a good night’s rest and start all over tomorrow!
