How to Prepare Your Patio for Winter

12.30.131

Winter is here whether we like it or not, but there's no need to panic. In Orange County this doesn't mean the snow boots replace the flip flops, but it is quite common for the temperatures to dip down into the 50’s (and even 40’s sometimes). Keep your outdoor patio open all year round with our helpful tips. Balboa Realty, the leaders in Orange County property management, have 3 ways to winterproof your patio.

Start A Fire

One of the best center pieces for an outdoor patio is a fireplace. Installing a fireplace not only sets a cute and romantic vibe, but it will keep you warm. With so many different shapes, sizes, and types of fireplaces take your time and select the one that suits you and your patio best. Roast marshmallows and warm your toes by the fire when they get chilly. It won’t matter what month it is because you can sit back relax and stay warm all year long.

Get Cozy

Making your outside patio a place of comfort is key. When searching for furniture, find all weather outdoor furniture that can handle the California winter weather and won’t be ruined by the rain and wind. Bring out the plush blankets, fuzzy pillows and snuggle up on the couches with your friends and family. Be careful and don’t get your blankets too close to the fireplace. You can even choose to go big and invest in heated furniture.

Light It Up

In the wintertime the sun sets much earlier, so instead of taking the party inside, but turn on the lights outdoors. Bedazzle your backyard by stringing lights in trees, plants, and along the ceiling. If you want heat it up, you can install heat lamps that are a two for one and add both light and warmth. Not only will these lights make everything all aglow, but add some magic.
