Join Our Alliance To Have A Voice
The Newport Beach Short-Term Rental Alliance is dedicated to advocating for the owners and managers of short-term rental properties in Newport Beach, our neighbors in the community, and the small businesses whose successes are supported by our guests.
We advocate for our industry's public policy goals, we educate the public about the value we bring to the community, we create opportunities for our members to build relationships, and we promote the highest standards for our industry.
This alliance represents 1,100 small businesses in Newport Beach. We generate substantial Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) revenue through guests who spend at local restaurants, shops, and services. By hosting larger groups for longer stays than traditional hotels, we contribute more TOT and create a greater economic impact for the city.
We represent around 250,000 visitors who pay an outsized amount of local sales tax that the city does not track. The total transient tax we collect is more than the sales tax paid by every restaurant in the city.
The City has unfairly targeted 1,100 licensed short-term rental businesses in Newport Beach, enforcing stricter codes than those applied to hotels—despite treating us the same for permits and taxes.
This selective enforcement is pushing out compliant permit holders. Rather than being seen as a liability, we should be recognized as assets—bringing in tax revenue and supporting the local economy.
This Alliance gives homeowners a voice, and we invite small business owners to join us. Together, we can demand fair treatment and proper recognition.
